We walk through your home together, discussing your lifestyle, challenges, style preferences, layout, furniture, décor, and overall vision and talk through what’s working, what’s not, and where to go from here.
Whether you’re furnishing a new home, refreshing a tired space, or just feeling stuck on where to begin, this is the easiest way to make a start.
There’s no obligation to proceed with additional services, however if you do continue with Dear Design, your consultation fee is redeemable towards future styling services.

A home stylist pulls together the furniture, layout, décor, artwork and lighting in a home so it feels finished and suits the people who live there. Dear Design is a Melbourne interior styling studio that looks after the whole process, from the concept through to sourcing and installation.
How does the In-Home Consultation work?
It's a focused 60-minute session in your home. We walk through the space together, talk about how you live and what you'd like to change, and you finish with a clear next step. How much does home styling cost in Melbourne?
It depends on how many rooms are involved and whether we're working with pieces you already own or sourcing everything new. Every project is quoted after the In-Home Consultation, so you have a clear figure before you commit to anything.
How long does home styling take?
Most styling projects take 4 to 12 weeks from the In-Home Consultation to installation, depending on the size for the project, stock availability and our project schedule.
How far ahead do I need to book?
We can be booked up to six weeks ahead, so it's worth getting in touch as soon as you know you'd like help.
When is the best time to bring in a home stylist?
As early as possible. If you're buying a new home, for example, we can work on the design and sourcing while you wait for settlement, so that once you have the keys we can install everything and you can move straight in.
Do I need to replace all my furniture?
Not necessarily. We can furnish a whole home from scratch, with furniture, décor and artwork, or we can start with what you already own, keep the pieces that work and bring in what's missing. If we're working with your existing pieces, we begin with a thorough assessment of what suits the home, looking at scale, colour palette and the style of the space.
Can you style just one room?
Yes. We style single rooms and full homes, whether it's a new build or a space that's ready for a refresh.
